The music from the 90s can be described by one word: diverse. The commonly acknowledged anthem of the 1990s is, not surprisingly, Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit.' But while the lyrics of this successful song are somewhat vague, this song catapulted Kurt Cobain as the decade's most famed lyrists (or someone who writes lyrics) and composer (or those who composes lyrics). Thanks to Nirvana, grunge became a mainstream musical genre. They also paved the way for bands like Pearl Jam.
Pearl Jam also became one of the major bands during the 90s. Their song 'Jeremy' is now considered a contemporary classic.
